    Hi

    Recently, my customer complaint about this “Warning! You have not set your Meta Box license key yet, which means you are missing out on automatic updates and support! Enter your license key or get one here.” Is this normal? Do they need to purchase a license? I thought that Metabox is a free plugin and it doesn’t need the license key

    Thanks

    The warning is displayed only when they have premium extensions installed. Meta Box is free and always is. Don’t worry about that.

    I included the premium extensions in the theme. So is there a way to turn it off?

    Will I need to provide my customers the API key?

    Never provide the API key in your theme as it’s prohibited. You can let your users live with it (like WPBackery Page Builder does), or hide it with CSS.

    Unless I am missing something more obvious, this isn’t currently possible with CSS since the markup does not include a unique identifier. So it would need some JS, e.g the below (not tested).

    jQuery('a[href="https://metabox.io/pricing/"]').closest(".notice").hide();

    I do love Meta Box and want to see it succeed commercially though. So if you feel your users are the right fit, it might be nice to ask them to purchase a license.
