Website is doing strange things with custom taxonomies and custom post types.

    Post Types: Portfolio
Custom Taxonomy I assigned to the custom post type: Project type

I have custom fields set up for my custom taxonomy too, and a taxonomy field that allows clients to select the project type, and it displays it in the admin columns.
So now if I edit the portfolio type, there are two areas to add a project type, and these see, to be treated two variations by the system. There's not synchronisation between the taxonomies selected.
    Please look into this issue

    Hi,

The one is the default meta box of WordPress to select the taxonomy for a post. You can use the option "Remove default meta box" in the Builder or setting remove_default with coding to remove this box.

    And documentation https://docs.metabox.io/fields/taxonomy/#settings

Note: this option only works with the Classic Editor.

    Thanks Long

Thanks for your response. I do use Gutenberg on this website however - so I can't fix the issue in this way.

If I bulk edit my Portfolio, and then open one of them, my taxonomy updates are not even reflected in the sidebar Project Type taxonomy. In ACF this is simply done by using pre-fill an bi-direcrtional settings. Is there nothing like this?

    Hi,

You can edit the custom taxonomy, uncheck the option "Show on edit page" under the tab Advanced to remove the default box of WordPress. Screenshot https://share.getcloudapp.com/jkumg8eB
