Here are the types of data you can move from Pods to Meta Box with MB Pods Migration:

  • Field group’s settings with location rules
  • Data of all field types, including groups, relationships
  • Data of conditional logic
  • Data of option page, such as settings page
  • Data of posts, terms, users

Before Getting Started

Before the migration, you’ve had the Pods plugin on your site. Keep it there, and you should install the Meta Box core plugin. You can download and install it from wordpress.org.

Next, we need to install the MB Pods Migration extension as well, which helps you move all data from Pods to Meta Box. This extension is also available in the WordPress repo. If you use Meta Box AIO, it is included as a part of the package. Just make sure you have the latest version.

Besides, remember to install all the needed Meta Box extensions that correspond to the features being migrated. For example, use Meta Box Group if you have fields in a group created by Pods.

Then, you can transfer all the data from Pods to Meta Box, including fields, posts, settings pages, terms, users, etc., with just a click on the Migrate button.

Moving Data from Pods to Meta Box

Assuming that we had a custom post type along with several custom fields applied to that post type with Pods.

After installing and activating MB Pods Migration, there is a Pods Migration menu in the Meta Box menu. Click the Migrate button and wait about 1 minute for a message that notices the moving process has been completed.

Next, you should deactivate Pods.

You can see that the fields and others (if any) is displayed exactly the same as when you use Pods.

Fields in Meta Box are displayed exactly the same as when you use Pods.

The data is still there as well.
